This is a beach on New Zealand’s west coast with sea stacks in the background and Sea Stars clinging to the rocks. Here I used a 10-stop neutral density filter, which blocks the light entering the lens and forces a long exposure. What looks like serene fog is actually crashing waves. These rocks were at the end of a vast beach, and when the tide returns it cuts you off from land. Though I wanted to set up and capture this beautiful scene from many angles, the tide returned quickly.
