Sometime in mid April the Pasque flowers begin to bloom in the foothills along the Front Range of Colorado, typically just a few hundred feet above the lowlands. They’re the first widely noticeable flower to bloom. April is still actually quite early for flowers to bloom along the foothills. It’s not that this region is markedly colder on average from anywhere in the Midwest, but being on the edge of the Rockies, remnant storms move out of the mountains and typically drop a few April snows.
