Mt. Sopris is Colorado’s tallest mountain by prominence. This shot was the final composition on my photography trip of Winter 2022. After a long drive through Utah the day before, and a cold night spent in my truck, I woke up at 6:00 am and sped in from the Utah/Colorado state line to catch this shot as early in the morning as possible. Fresh snow overnight frosted this scene to perfection, and the clouds formed a divine halo around the mountain just as I arrived.
