The Western Green Lizard is native to southern Europe. A handful of individuals were introduced to a particular vineyard in the hills of Baden-Württemberg, Germany where they thrive in this warm microclimate that mimics the Mediterranean region. Unlike most invasive species, there has not yet been a discernible negative effect on this ecosystem by this foreign species.
