I found this Orange Hairstreak Butterfly on the inside of my kitchen window in late November of 2022. Apparently it had become trapped and was overwintering in my house. I’m often pleasantly surprised to find insects and spiders in my house during the winter doldrums because they make nice photo projects. I photographed this Hairstreak on the leaf of a houseplant. It’s a focus stack of about 15 images to crisply capture every detail down to the scales of her wings. In return, I fed her honey water and mashed fruit. I found her reliably clinging to my back window everyday for 3 weeks until I found her no more.
